Jones Motoring used car dealership is a family-owned business, with both Vince and Josh Jones having a combined 65 plus years industry experience. The company was started in 2003, with just 28 vehicles in stock, and at one stage had grown to a stock holding of up to 100 vehicles at any one time. Due to the rapid growth, a new site was obtained in 2015, and subsequently developed in 2017. Jones motoring relocated in December 2017 to the new site, which is owned by the Directors of the company.

In recent times, and as Covid has completely changed the Motor Industry, Josh Jones started to see a strong trend toward the internet side of the business, and a large reduction in walk on clients. Good quality vehicles were harder to obtain, and a large majority of purchasers were moving towards buying online, rather than, the old-fashioned way of visiting and walking the car yards.

When developers approached, and the opportunity came to sell off the high-profile site, Josh decided it was time to have a change of direction and life style, and diversify to an online model. Of course, you can still visit us at 19 factory Road Mosgiel, if you wish to touch the vehicle, or we can also bring the vehicle to you anywhere in Dunedin for a test drive. Many however, are preferring to look at our vehicles online, watch our 5-minute vehicle condition and road test video, and make their buying decision from the comfort of their own home. We also offer freight free to Invercargill, Balclutha and Gore, also to Central Otago, and we will freight to Christchurch, for no charge. All of our vehicles come with a 12-months Janssens Mechanical warranty for no charge, so any issue can be dealt with nationwide hassle free.

Vince Jones is now retired, but calls in to help out regularly, while Josh Jones is in charge of the day to day running of the business, alongside the hardest worker in the industry, Fynn Hastie. At Jones Motoring, we specialise in mainly NZ New vehicles, most with a very good history. These vehicles have been sourced through our contacts, direct from Lease companies, or are often franchise trade in vehicles, which don’t match to the specific brand they sell. We also get some really sound vehicles which we trade ourselves, in the lower price bracket, very popular for first car buyers.

Each vehicle is prepared for sale by Josh Jones himself, using his vast 28 years of experience. Once the vehicle has been through his process, the vehicle is then photo’d and filmed for our online condition and road test video, then listed online through various websites.
